Being a human means you’re always healing from something. To make us feel less alone in this, the continual healing process needs to be shared and celebrated – and there’s no better place to do that than in a thermal mineral spring. Because healing is hot!!

I’m Taylor, and I started this blog to showcase healing modalities – my favorite of course being hot springs.

I share in another blog why hot springs have become my ultimate healing modality, but I want to emphasize that healing is a constant journey that’s much easier with community by your side.

This wild human life throws obstacles and opportunities at us daily, and we get to decide how we respond.

Through meditation, extended time in nature, intentional use of plant medicines, many forms of movement, readings, gatherings, and more, I’ve been able to transform my state of being and see lives changed around me.

Healing in Nature – Taylor’s story on searching for an aligned lifestyle

Oh my goodness, I used to pray for the capacity to spend more time in nature. Being cooped up in an office all day just wasn’t suiting my needs, and it took me years to find the courage and opportunities to buy the van and do the work to change my situation.

I fully believe that everyone should take the opportunity to get out on the road. You learn so much about yourself and how to handle situations that just wouldn’t come up in the suburbs. All this to say, you don’t need to buy a van and quit your job to heal in nature.

I’ve been recovering from deep burnout… I always had side gigs, events I was either planning or attending, school, friends… you know the grind.

Who am I? Where do I get validation? As I spent more time in natural hot springs and talking to trees, I realized how programmed I had been for productivity. And mother nature showed me that it’s okay to just be.

Water has memory and we can tap into its healing abilities, whether the water is hot or not. My first hot spring experience was in 2019, we drove from my hometown of Albuquerque to Jemez, where we hiked to a mountainside pool that overlooked the Jemez Peoples’ homeland.

I found so much joy and peace from soaking amongst the trees, and have been seeking hot springs wherever we go ever since.

Plant Medicines – On learning and deconstructing with Taylor

Plant and fungi medicines are on a resurgence, especially now that society is awakening to the scams of the pharmaceutical industry.

NPR shares that more than a third of Americans use complementary and alternative medicine, ranging from acupuncture to herbalism, Ayurveda to homeopathy.

These natural tools come to us when needed, and often if I’m having trouble sleeping or a tummy ache I can find a tea blend that helps significantly.

I will share stories of psychedelic healing and herbal remedies, because I’ve seen first-hand the major shifts in life and perspective with their assistance.

It’s especially great to make a cup of tea with hot spring water if it’s drinkable!

Next Steps – The Journey Unfolds

I hope that through this blog, our @hotspringhotties Instagram, and through the connections made on travels, I can inspire others to seek healing, find community, and be good stewards of our environment.

This year I’m working on organizing volunteer events to revitalize hot springs, create a nonprofit to keep wild hot springs accessible and beautiful, and of course share our healing journeys and growth in new ways!
